Scott Stoneham
Founder of Lonestar Bucket Trucks

Scott Stoneham founded Lonestar Bucket Trucks, a company based in Fort Worth, Texas, that specializes in supplying bucket trucks and other essential vehicles for industries like electric power line services and outdoor maintenance. In addition to his leadership at Lonestar Bucket Trucks, Scott serves as the President of Lonestar Enterprises Limited, the holding company he created to manage various ventures in the automotive and utility vehicle sectors. Throughout his career, Scott has displayed remarkable marketing expertise and strategic foresight, allowing him to successfully transition from selling high-end automobiles to distributing heavy machinery and utility trucks. His business acumen has played a critical role in his success, driving his company's growth in a highly specialized market.

Scott’s achievements are even more significant when considering his challenges. In 2012, Scott suffered a catastrophic fall that resulted in a serious spinal cord injury. Falling approximately 14 feet through a collapsed deck, he broke both of his legs, a shoulder, and severely damaged his L3 vertebrae. Following a 12-hour surgery, Scott spent nearly two years in a wheelchair and endured countless hours of physical therapy to regain his ability to walk. Despite the severity of his injuries, Scott remained determined to recover and return to his business endeavors.

Through sheer willpower and the support of his doctors, Scott was able to make a remarkable recovery. He credits his healing to his faith, a skilled healthcare team, and resilience. What might have been a crippling setback became a catalyst that fueled his determination to keep moving forward in his professional life. Today, Scott continues to manage the realities of his spinal cord injury but is incredibly grateful for the ability to walk and maintain an active lifestyle.

Scott's Early Career and Education

Scott’s journey toward success began with his education at Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business degree. Early in his career, Scott entered the automotive financing industry, where he demonstrated an exceptional ability to close deals and exceed customer expectations. His success quickly led to promotions within the company, and he advanced from Finance Manager to Finance Director, eventually reaching the role of Director of Sales.

After graduation, Scott was offered a director position at Van Tuyl Automotive, a privately held dealership. This company was later acquired by Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, where Scott’s contributions continued to earn recognition. Throughout this time, Scott honed his sales skills and developed a deep understanding of the automotive industry, setting the stage for his future business ventures.

In the years that followed, Scott realized that the automotive industry was undergoing significant changes, particularly with the growth of online vehicle sales. He saw an opportunity to serve a niche that could weather economic challenges more effectively than the luxury automotive sector. In 2005, Scott boldly decided to leave his position at Van Tuyl and launched his online dealership that specialized in high-end, specialty vehicles. His knowledge of these vehicles’ features and their potential to improve operational efficiency for businesses and municipalities gave him a competitive edge in this niche market.

Adapting to the Economic Downturn

Despite the success of his online dealership, Scott’s business was hit hard by the 2008 financial crisis. As the economy collapsed, Scott had millions of dollars worth of specialty vehicle inventory that no one could afford. His once-thriving business faced financial ruin as high-end vehicle sales reached a standstill, and customers struggled to secure financing.

Rather than allowing this setback to derail his career, Scott used this challenging period to learn and grow. He returned to the corporate world, working with larger dealer groups and refining his business strategies to adapt to the changing market. By 2016, Scott was prepared to enter a new industry and capitalize on an emerging market opportunity. With his experience in the automotive sector, Scott applied his marketing expertise to the heavy equipment and commercial truck industries, specifically focusing on the bucket truck sector.

A New Beginning: Lonestar Bucket Trucks

Scott’s entry into the bucket truck market was the right move. As municipalities and businesses sought to modernize their utility infrastructure, the demand for specialized vehicles like bucket trucks increased. These vehicles are used to access difficult-to-reach locations and provide critical services for industries ranging from power utilities to communication services. Recognizing the growing need for such cars, Scott founded Lonestar Bucket Trucks, focusing on delivering high-quality, reliable equipment to meet this demand.

Lonestar Bucket Trucks quickly established itself as a leader in the utility vehicle market. Scott’s deep understanding of the needs of his customers, coupled with his strong sales and marketing abilities, allowed the company to grow rapidly. His approach focused not only on offering top-quality vehicles but also on providing exceptional customer service. These values have helped Lonestar earn a reputation for reliability and excellence, ensuring the company maintains a strong and loyal customer base.
